I briefly introduced Anne last week when I announced we would be working together through Pampered Chef which you can read more about here. I wanted to do more of a formal introduction because not only is Anne family and overall awesome, she has had quite the health journey!
After giving birth to her daughter, she knew she needed to make some changes. It has been a slow and steady journey because that’s what builds lasting change, but all of her hard work as paid off! I’ll let her tell the rest 🙂
Name and age: Anne Bibb, 41
Outside of Pampered Chef, what’s your job?
I am a wife, mom, volunteer at my church, and I also work as a Sr. Director for a global outsourcing organization. My job is focused on finding clients and developing solutions for those clients that allow our employees to work from home while taking care of the client’s customers.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Family. Church. Family.
Why did you decide to start selling Pampered Chef?
The first time or the most recent? Ha! The first time was for the money. The second time was still for the money, let’s face it I have a 19-year-old about to go to college, but so much more. Aside from that, there are the free products and other perks like trips. I also really love the mission to get families around the table again.
When did you really start to focus on your health?
I have alway been concerned with my health, but it spiraled out of control after I had my daughter. Out of whack metabolism and a change in job/lifestyle packed on the pounds. When we decided to put my daughter, who is high functioning on the Asperger spectrum, on a gluten free diet, it was just easier for both of us to eat that way. As I lost weight, I had more energy to get up and move more…which made me lose more. Then, my doctor changed my migraine medication (at this point I had already lost 60 pounds or so) and the new medication took away my ability to taste carbonation. Bye, bye sodas! Then sweets! More came off. It took 2.5 to 3 years to lose about 120 pounds but it was slow and steady. Over the last few years, I’ve stayed within a 20-pound range depending on the time of year it is. I have learned not to deny myself because then I will binge, but if I am craving it, I go ahead and get a small taste.
Have you ever struggled with body image issues? Or lack of self-confidence?
Oh yes, all of my life. Honestly, I still do. Even though I have lost all of this weight, I have a lot of loose skin that I find unpleasant. I have to look at pictures sometimes to remind me of the difference.
What influenced you to start changing?
My daughter. I want to be a good influence for her.
How has your fitness changed from when you started to now?
I used to deprive and binge, I have learned to give the cravings a taste so I don’t binge.
How has food played into your health?
I definitely eat healthier than I did 10 years ago. Much more fresh and less processed.
Has Pampered Chef played a role in eating healthier?
Yes! I get to practice with all of our tools and make fresh healthy meals and snacks. Being able to make a salad in less than five minutes is great for me.
What have you learned about yourself?
I am OCD. Nah…I knew that already!
What are a few of your long or short term goals as it pertains to your health?
Keep the weight off.
Who has been your biggest supporter or source of inspiration?
What would your advice be to a woman who is looking to be healthier but doesn’t think she has the time?
Start with diet. Small changes make a big difference. Then start walking. 10 steps today, 15 tomorrow, then 20, etc.
Losing over 100 pounds is nothing to sneeze at and doing it while raising a family and working two jobs? That’s superhero status! I’m excited to get the chance to work with Anne and help her grow her Pampered Chef business. I’m also really excited to help others realize being healthy doesn’t have to be difficult!
